Book Headband
What Is a Book Headband (Endband)?
A headband is the small decorative fabric strip at the top of a hardcover book‘s spine; the matching strip at the bottom is the tailband. Together, they’re called endbands. In modern casebound books, endbands are pre-made woven tapes that are adhered to the book block before casing-in. They add a refined, finished look and help bridge the small gap between the spine and the book block.
