Custom rigid drawer boxes—also called slide boxes, or match slide boxes—offer a premium unboxing experience with a smooth sliding motion and strong, protective construction. The tray slides out from the outer sleeve like a matchbox, creating packaging that feels elegant, functional, and ideal for retail display.
Rigid Drawer Boxes, also known as rigid slide boxes or matchbox style rigid boxes, feature a unique structure consisting of an outer sleeve and an inner drawer that slides smoothly in and out. This design creates a refined, premium look while offering a distinctive unboxing experience.
The "Silky Slide" Experience: Engineered Friction
A rigid drawer box shouldn’t get stuck, nor should it feel loose. The difference between a “good” box and a “luxury” box lies in the glide.
We engineer the specific friction tolerance between the inner tray and the outer sleeve based on your box size, paper finish, and the weight of your product. This creates a smooth, controlled glide. Whether you use a ribbon pull or a thumb notch, the drawer opens with a satisfying, consistent resistance—ensuring your product is revealed smoothly, never jerked open.

1. Choose Your Sleeve Structure
How do you want the drawer to function?
The Design: Open on both ends. The drawer can slide out from either the left or right side.
Best For: Lightweight products, confectionery, and cost-effective packaging solutions.
The Design: One end of the sleeve is sealed closed. When the drawer is pushed in, it hits a “stop” at the back.
Best For: Heavy items (perfume, electronics) and premium gifts. It offers better protection and prevents the drawer from accidentally sliding all the way out and dropping the product.
2. Choose Your Pull Mechanism
How will your customer open the drawer?
A satin or grosgrain ribbon loop is attached to the drawer front. It adds a pop of color and makes sliding effortless. (Available in 10mm, 16mm, or custom widths).
A precision die-cut semi-circle on the sleeve allows the user to push the drawer out with their thumb. This creates a clean, flush look with no protruding parts.
For furniture-style drawers, we can install a cotton rope handle. This is ideal for larger boxes or reusable storage kits.
