Oracle Cards Paper Options

We use high-quality cardstock to create our custom oracle cards, ensuring durability and a premium feel.

For a luxurious and smooth finish, we recommend 350gsm or 350gsm cardstock. This provides the perfect balance of strength and flexibility, making your oracle cards easy to shuffle and handle. The thicker cardstock also enhances the card’s durability, allowing them to withstand frequent use while maintaining their vibrant colors and clarity.

Here are the most common paper types we use for oracle cards:

What is the Difference Between Tarot and Oracle Cards?

Structure:

Tarot Cards: A tarot deck always contains 78 cards divided into the Major Arcana (22 cards) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards). The Minor Arcana is split into four suits, each with 14 cards (Ace through 10, plus four court cards: Page, Knight, Queen, and King).

Oracle Cards: Oracle decks have no standard structure or number of cards. They can range from as few as 10 cards to over 100, depending entirely on the creator’s design and theme.

Purpose and Use:

Tarot Cards: Often used for in-depth readings, tarot cards are ideal for exploring complex questions and situations. They provide detailed insights and are typically used in spreads that show how cards interact with each other.

Oracle Cards: These are generally used for more straightforward guidance and reflection. They offer clarity and inspiration, often focusing on a single message or theme per card, making them user-friendly for quick insights.

Symbolism and Interpretation:

Tarot Cards: Rich in symbolism, tarot draws from various traditions like astrology, numerology, and mythology. Each card has specific meanings that can vary depending on its position in a spread and its relationship with other cards.

Oracle Cards: Usually have more direct and accessible symbolism. The interpretations are often provided by the deck’s guidebook, focusing on the theme chosen by the creator, which can be anything from angels to nature.

Flexibility:

Tarot Cards: While the structure is consistent, there is room for variation in artistic style and slight differences in interpretation across different decks.

Oracle Cards: Highly flexible, allowing for a broad range of themes and artistic expressions. Each deck is unique, and the creator has complete freedom over its content and design.

Learning Curve:

Tarot Cards: Requires study and practice to understand the complex symbolism and how to interpret cards in relation to each other.

Oracle Cards: Easier to pick up and use, often with straightforward messages that don’t require extensive background knowledge.
