UV Coating
UV Coating is a kind of varnishing done through UV coating machines and not through offset printing machines. The UV coating is a clear compound that is applied on the printing surface with the help of ultraviolet light. Generally, UV coating is done on the entire page and not on certain areas.
How is UV Coating different from Spot UV?
The main difference between the two is the fact that where Spot UV is done on a certain area, UV coating is done on the entire area. Secondly, for Spot UV, you will need extra Spot UV plate, whereas there is no such need while doing UV coating. Thirdly, where Spot UV results in a thicker and glossier effect, UV coating has a relatively thinner coating.
How is UV Coating different from Varnishing?
The main difference between the two is that UV coating is thicker and glossier than varnishing. And when it comes to durability, UV coating is more durable than varnishing. This is the reason why UV coating is used on book covers, catalog covers, cards, posters and much more.
