Can I request a proof?
Yes. A photography book is a large undertaking. To ensure that the printing quality meets your expectations, we recommend that you create a set of hard proofs and 4-16 page offset printing samples. Why? The hard proof color and the final book printing color are approximately 95% the same. The final colors are represented by the offset printing sample. Color differences between hard proof and offset printing can be compared. You’ll see how they look in the finished book.
What binding is best for a fine art photography book?
Smyth-sewn hardcover binding is our recommendation. It is far more durable than glued bindings, making it ideal for books that are browsed, exhibited, and collected. You can choose to have the book lie flat for full, distortion-free image spreads, or stay rigid, depending on how the text block is set on the spine.
How do you make sure the printed colors match my photographs?
We run GMG color proofing on every print run as standard. If you want to confirm color before the full run, we can also supply hard proofs and 4 to 16 page offset samples on request as an optional paid service. The hard proof is approximately 95% accurate to the final book, and the offset sample shows the true printed color, so you can compare and sign off before we print the whole edition.
Do you ship internationally, and are duties included?
We ship worldwide to the US, Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia. Sea freight to the US can be arranged DDP (duties paid). Shipping to Canada, Australia, the UK, and Europe does not include GST or VAT. Your project manager will confirm delivery terms for your destination with your quote.
