Common Wall Calendar Sizes
The ideal size for your wall calendar depends on its intended use, target audience, and design elements. While we can create calendars in any size you prefer, sticking to standard dimensions is often simpler, more cost-effective, and proven to deliver great results.
The most common sizes for promotional wall calendars are:
11″ x 8.5″ (Landscape Orientation)
- A compact size suitable for small spaces, often used for promotional calendars or personal use.
12″ x 12″ (Square)
- A popular size with a balanced square format, often used for artistic designs, photography, or themed calendars.
12″ x 17″ (Tabloid)
- Larger format, offering more space for artwork and notes, commonly used for corporate or larger promotional calendars.

Wall Calendar Paper Options
For wall calendars, we recommend using gloss or matte art paper for the best image quality, as most calendars feature vibrant photography or art reproductions.
- Gloss paper is ideal for full-color photographic calendars, making colors pop and creating a polished look.
- Matte paper offers excellent image reproduction while ensuring text is easy to read, making it perfect for simpler designs.
If your calendar is meant for writing, choose uncoated paper. This paper allows for easy writing with pencils, pens, or markers, making it ideal for interactive calendars.
A common approach is to combine gloss art paper for the visual pages and uncoated paper for the writable pages, typically with the image on top and the calendar layout below. This option is best for larger print runs (over 50,000 pieces) to keep costs down due to the complexity of customization.
Binding Options for Custom Wall Calendars
You can choose from two popular and effective binding options to customize your calendar to your specific needs: saddle stitch and wire-o binding methods. Let’s look at each.
Saddle stitch binding
If your calendar has 24 pages and 4 pages on the cover, saddle stitching is a popular and economical binding method that may suit your needs. Saddle stitching binds the pages and cover together with specially designed staples. This is an ideal option for a wall-hanging calendar and we can combine a drilled hole—that runs evenly through all the pages—making it easy to hang in the office, the workshop, or at home.
Wire-O binding
Wire-O binding uses a technique known as “punch-and-bind”. We punch or drill equally spaced holes along one of the outer edges of the calendar’s pages. We then insert a flexible wire—wound into a double series of circular hoops—through the holes. The wire coil holds the pages together while allowing them to turn independently even through 360° and, of course, lay completely flat. We can laminate the pages to make them tougher and water-resistant. For wall-hanging calendars, we can incorporate a special loop into the coil.
