Card Deck Paper Options
We make our cards from high-quality printed paper. The type of paper used depends on the cards, what they’ll have printed on them, and what they’ll be used for. The most common paper options for making a custom deck of cards are:
- 300 gsm / 110 lb gloss art paper
- 300 gsm / 110 lb matte art paper
- 350 gsm / 129 lb gloss art paper
- 310 gsm / 114 lb black core paper
- Two sheets of C1S (cover paper coated on one side) glued together
Card Deck Finishing Options
Depending on the style of your custom card deck, you can choose from a variety of surface finishes, including lamination, varnishing, and more. If you’re a magician, let us know about any special “gimmicks” you need. We can also enhance your deck with extra features, such as:
A non-glossy coating on both sides that offers a textured feel.
A glossy coating on both sides with a subtle texture.
A smooth, velvety matte film applied to both sides, offering durable, non-reflective finish.
A shiny film applied to both sides, giving the card a sleek, high-gloss appearance.
A glossy finish applied to specific areas for a bold and distinct look.
Metallic gold foil pressed onto the card for an elegant, eye-catching detail.
Metallic silver foil applied to the card, adding a sleek, reflective accent.
Raised designs for added texture and elegance.
Metallic foil applied to the edges of the card, creating a premium and polished look from every angle.
Printed on holographic paper, which reflects rainbow-like colors when viewed from different angles.
You can choose rounded or square corners to complete your custom deck of cards.
Custom Card Deck Sizes
We use die-cutting to make our cards. This involves making a cutting mold. We have the following size molds always in our stock:
Using our standard pre-made molds is the most cost-effective method. But if you need a custom size, that’s no problem. It just means that we’ll need to prepare a special mold for you and for that service, we’ll need to charge you a small added fee. We can make cards of any thickness you need and, for example, with children’s cards which need to be a bit more robust, we can glue two sheets together to make a sturdier custom deck of cards.
Custom Card Deck Boxes
We offer a variety of packaging solutions for your card decks. Because most decks need to be collated in a specific order, we’ll handle that first and then load them into a traditional tuck-end box, a telescope rigid box (with a separate lid), or a magnetic closure rigid box (with a hinged lid and magnetic fastening).
If your custom printed card dark doesn’t need its own box—say, it’s part of a board game—we can shrink-wrap it to fit inside your game box or secure the cards in a custom insert made of cardboard, molded PVC, or foam.
Custom Card Types and Card Accessories
So, let’s take a quick look at the various types of cards we can make for you. While they each share several similarities — they’re all cards, after all! — they also have their own distinctive features and uses.
Game Cards
Game cards can be standalone decks or part of broader board games, like Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Uno, or Exploding Kittens. They can also represent characters, powers, actions, or penalties in diverse tabletop games. These are perfect projects for anyone looking to print custom card deck designs with game functionality.
Flash Card
Teachers and trainers use flash cards as memory aids, knowledge checks, or role-playing prompts. Simple yet versatile, they’re beneficial tools for anyone involved in education, training, or instructional settings and easily created in collaboration with a custom card deck maker like QinPrinting.
Poker Card
Traditional playing cards are widely used for games like poker, whist, and rummy, and by magicians performing tricks—sometimes using special “gimmicked” cards. A standard 52-card deck includes four suits (diamonds, hearts, clubs, spades), each containing three royal cards and ten numbered cards.
Tarot Cards
Tarot and oracle cards are used for divination, storytelling, games, and personal growth. A standard tarot deck has 78 beautifully illustrated cards, often featuring themes from myths, legends, and fairy tales.
Holographic cards
Holographic paper gives game or tarot cards a vibrant, 3D look. It’s reflective, colorful, and can be enhanced with spot UV coating or foil stamping—ideal for a visually striking custom printed card deck.
Conversation cards
Perfect for sparking team-building activities. These conversation cards encourage interaction, communication, and laughter. Easily customizable for themes like relationships, workplace bonding, or fun party games, they’re great icebreakers and conversation starters for groups of all sizes and settings—professional, social, or casual.
Customized Scratch Cards
Scratch-off technology hides a printed message, number, image, or code beneath a removable coating. It’s great for games, promos, coupons, and rewards. Our unique “soft scratch” material makes it easy to reveal content with just a fingernail.
Trading cards
Trading cards are collectible cards often featuring sports stars, fictional characters, or game elements. Popular with fans and players alike, they’re used for collecting, trading, and gameplay—sometimes gaining value based on rarity, condition, or demand. we can help you print custom card deck runs for fan collections or promotional use.

How should I prepare digital files for die-cut card printing?
It’s important that you prepare your files correctly to make sure that your cards come out looking great. Here, we share a few important tips.
- Export your files in PDF format for printing
- Make sure that you change the color space from RGB to CMYK before you export
- Export images as vectors whenever possible
- If you can’t use vectors — if you’re exporting bitmaps from Photoshop, for example — then make sure that you set the image resolution to at least 300 dpi
- If you have a design with colors or images which extend all the way to the edge of the finished sticker, remember to add a 3 mm “bleed zone” to allow for die-cutting
- If you’re not exporting your artwork as vectors, you must separate the die-cutting design and the printable artwork into two layers
If you’re working with a professional designer to create your files, they should understand what’s needed to make everything “print ready”. But if you’re working with design software yourself for the first time, these are the vital tips to remember before you submit your files. Still, our team of experts will always manually check all your files before we go to press. If we find any issues, we’ll let you know and help you resolve them.
Can I order a sample deck before mass production?
Yes, you can order a sample deck before mass production! We offer various proofing options to help you review the design, colors, paper type, and print quality of the final product.
If you’re unsure about our paper types, finishes, or want to see examples of past projects, you can also request a paper sample pack for reference. This means you can be fully confident before moving forward with your order.
How long does it take to print and ship custom card decks?
The production timeline typically ranges from 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the complexity of your order. Shipping times vary by location, but we provide estimated delivery dates upon order confirmation.
What file format should I use for custom card designs?
We accept high-resolution PDF files with a minimum of 300 DPI in CMYK color mode and a 3-mm bleed. Be sure to include bleed and crop marks for accurate printing.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide, including to the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and more. We offer various shipping options, including combined sea and air freight, to suit your budget and timeline.

QinPrinting Reviews
First, they were so reactive, it was especially great to have a contact in Canada, Daniel was so helpful and so quick to respond to my questions. I was guided during the entire process, received a lot of updates and advises. The result was perfect, even better than expected. Also they were always ahead of the expected dates for reviews, proofing, printing and shipping. And prices ate very competitive. So yes I will do business again with them.
Thank Qin Printing team.
At the start, I slightly overestimated how quickly I would complete the project, and for almost a year, I was in contact with Susan, who handled everything with remarkable kindness, understanding, and efficiency. Throughout the entire process, Susan always responded promptly, offering valuable insights and suggestions on how best to achieve the quality I envisioned. Her support made a world of difference, especially given the complexity of my game, which required a great deal of checking and double-checking.
When the final product arrived, I was absolutely thrilled—the quality is simply stunning. Every detail was beautifully executed, and the results exceeded my expectations. It was truly a wonderful experience working with QinPrinting, and I am deeply grateful to Susan in particular, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. If you are looking for a printing partner who combines professionalism, skill, patience, and genuine care, look no further than QinPrinting.
From start to finish, Jane was incredibly informative and helpful.
Also great communication.
My books arrived, and are beautiful!
Jane was prompt and had GREAT attention to detail were exceptional. Most of my emails were answered within 24 hours, and Jane went above and beyond by sending pictures, samples, and clear explanations to help me understand all the technical aspects of book printing. She even reviewed my proofs thoroughly and pointed out a few important adjustments I needed to make to my PDF files.
Shipping was faster than expected, and when I compared the final copies from Qin Printing with those from IngramSpark, Qin’s quality was far superior. The materials looked more polished; paper is higher quality, and the print was crisper. Each book was carefully wrapped.
I ended up saving 75% of my printing budget, and communicating in English was no issue at all. It felt like Jane cared about the project as much as I did. I can’t recommend her and Qin Printing enough. Thank you so much for helping bring my book to life!
